1000 Layer Damascus Steel Katana

This Sword was forged as part of the YouTube Samurai challenge, a collaboration with many great YouTube makers. The blade is 30 inches long and is made of approximately 1000 layers of pattern-welded Damascus steel. The hilt of the sword is made from a combination of wood, steel, copper, and stingray skin. This Sword was my first venture into the world of Japanese-style blades; many things were learned, many mistakes made, but the end result was a beautiful and razor-sharp blade. A video on the making of this sword can be found on the Old Hickory Forge YouTube channel.
